Security Index

All your data is kept secure and private:

•   TLS/SSL 128-256 bit encryption prevents hackers from capturing passwords over the internet. And the database encrypts all passwords (salted hash) so no one can read your password, not even our staff.
•   We never share personally identifiable data with anyone. You may even restrict our staff from seeing any personally identifiable student information when we provide technical support for you.
•   Jupiter is compliant with FERPA and COPPA — see our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
•   Our servers automatically keep backups of all changes to grades, attendance, and transcripts, which you may access anytime. So if you accidentally reveal your password to a hacker, you can review any changes and restore your own data.
•   We also backup our servers every night, in case of hardware failure.
•   Our system automatically identifies suspicious logins and alerts you immediately by email if someone else logs into your account.
•   Our system is engineered to block brute force attacks, distributed denial of service (DDoS), cross-site scripting (XSS), SQL injection, phishing, and other exploits.
•   Our servers run Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and are patched regularly to protect against the latest security threats. None of our servers run Microsoft Windows.
•   Our servers have redundant components — RAID hard-drives, routing equipment, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), backup generators, air conditioners and filters — so if any component fails, you can continue to access your account without interruption or loss of data.
•   Our data center has 6 to 12 technicians on duty at all times, 24x7x365. The facility has multiple defenses against intruders, theft, and fire.
•   All our staff go through rigorous background-checks.
•   Because the program is internet-based, you can always access your account from any location, even if your school network goes down or your computer dies (unless you are hosting data on your own server).

Spyware

The main security threat to worry about is spyware, which hackers use to capture your passwords as you type them (regardless of where your data is hosted). So be sure to keep your computers protected against viruses!

Please contact us if you have any concerns or questions about security and privacy of your data.
