Student File Lockers Index

Students have their own file lockers to store files online. This lets them work on files on any computer at home, school, or anywhere, without requiring a flash drive.

They simply login and click the "Files" tab to upload, download, rename, and delete their files.

Notes:

•

Student files are deleted automatically 30 days after they are uploaded. This is not intended for permanent storage.

•

Students are limited to 10 MB of storage, which is plenty for text documents, but not intended for videos.

•

For security, they may not upload HTML files or other file types that may be exploited for phishing scams. Aside from that they may upload other file types, including .doc, .ppt, .xls, etc.

•

Use standard precautions for viruses when downloading student files from the internet.

•

Staff may look at the student's files by clicking the "Login as Student" button on the screen or screen in Admin Mode. Parents may look at the files when they login.

•

There is no feature for students to turn in a file electronically to the teacher. They'd need to use regular email for that.

Troubleshooting

If students cannot download files, make sure their browsers are not blocking downloads. For Internet Explorer, in the "Tools" menu select "Internet Options...". Click the "Security" tab and click the "Custom Level" button. Scroll to find "Downloads" > "Automatic prompting for file downloads" and select "Enable".

If files download as weird text, that's because the student created the file in a Microsoft Office 2007+ format (.docx, .xlsx, and .pptx), but now they're trying to open it on a computer with Office 2003 or older. You must install the Compatibility Pack from Microsoft for Office 2003 to read Office 2007+ files. Or tell students to save their files in Office 97-2003 formats instead (.doc, .xls, .ppt).
